Following election to the TAS Management Committee at the Annual General Meeting in October 1998, I was delighted to accept nomination to the position of Chairperson.
Organisations such as TAS rely on the commitment and generosity of individuals willing to be involved in the Management Committee and I would like to acknowledge the other committee members: Heather Dalziel - Catherine McAuley Family Centre (Vice-Chairperson), Anna Copeland - Youth Legal Service (Secretary); Michele Murphy, Karen Beard; Sue Cannell, Alison Humphrey - Miscellaneous Workers Union. Recently, the committee has reluctantly accepted the resignations of Sam Jenkinson and Alison Humphrey who are moving interstate to pursue other opportunities.
One of the defining features of the community sector is its generosity in sharing of information and ideas. This not only enables workers and tenants to benefit from the wealth of experience and information that exists within the sector but it helps people stay informed so they can lobby for better outcomes for tenants. As Chairperson, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff of TAS for this initiative, which I'm sure will be an excellent resource for people concerned with social housing issues.
